Our sun terrace and lawn area offer the perfect spot for playing a relaxing (dare we say it, competitive!) game of boules this summer, complete with sea views and local food. We aren’t the only place in Jersey to enjoy this fun game of strategy and skill though!
Read on to discover where else you can play on the island.
Firstly, how to play
- You don’t need an official ‘pitch’ you can play in the park, on the sand on the beach.
- The first person to go throws the small ‘jack’ ball from a fixed spot.
- The next player throws their boule from the same spot, trying to get as close as possible to the jack. In Boules, you throw underarm; in pétanque, you flick the wrist from the back of the hand. Do whatever feels right to you.
- Take turns throwing until all boules are thrown. The person whose boule is closest to the jack is the winner. Use the string included in the set for close calls!
Where to play
Jersey Pearl
Our lawn has been prepared – a marked pitch, deck chairs, and several sets of Boules create the perfect spot in the west. Plus, we have a delicious British summer menu with a Jersey twist for everyone to enjoy. Why not order a seafood salad, a glass of wine, enjoy a local Coopers Island coffee, or a slice of homemade cake after your game? Find us here.
